Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also known as skin tightening, is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin on any part of body very safely.
The procedure involves using energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis. This heat stimulates the production of collagen as well as remoulding of Collagen.
Collagen is the most common protein in your body. It creates the framework of your skin and gives your skin its firmness. As we aged our cells produce less collagen, which leads to saggy skin and wrinkles. When the quantity and quality of your collagen begins to decline around age 35 to 40, your skin can start to lose elasticity and show signs of aging, or you may see loose or sagging skin. RF therapy has been used since 2001 to fight the good fight against sagging skin.
Our 3rd Generation skin tightening treatment heats deep skin layers by delivering high frequency electrical currents via poles, or electrodes, to the body. Heating in the deeper dermis, to a constant 40 degrees Celsius, stimulates fibroblast action. In turn, this increases the synthesis of new collagen and elastin fibres. This thermal trauma which occurs to 5-30% of the collagen fibres causes an immediate contraction of the fibres. The contraction results in the production of new collagen in treated areas. After 8 weekly treatments, you can see a noticeable difference in skin where it looks firmer and tighter, and wrinkles appear much finer.
